Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 August 2026

Half an Idea ("we", "us") runs halfanidea.com, a site where anyone can submit an app idea. Ideas we select get built and released on the iOS App Store, and the person who submitted the idea earns a share of the revenue under a written agreement. Using the site or submitting an idea means you accept these terms.

1. Submissions are public and non-confidential

Ideas submitted here are intended for public display and community voting. Nothing you submit is confidential, and submitting an idea creates no confidentiality obligation on us. Don't submit trade secrets, anything you're bound to keep private, or material that belongs to someone else.

2. What happens to your idea

You keep ownership of the text you submit. By submitting, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display your submission on the site and to evaluate it. If we select your idea to build, we'll offer you a separate written agreement before development starts — that agreement covers the revenue share (10–20% of net revenue, per the published tiers), intellectual property, and each side's obligations. Nothing is owed by either side for ideas that aren't selected.

3. Similar ideas exist

Many people have similar ideas, and we may already have — or later receive — concepts similar to yours. Building something similar to an unselected submission is not a breach of these terms; the revenue share attaches only to ideas we formally select under a signed agreement.

4. No promises

We don't guarantee that any idea will be selected, that a selected app will ship by any date, or that a shipped app will earn anything. Most apps earn very little — the revenue share is a share of what actually comes in, not a promise of income.

5. Voting and conduct

Voting is limited to one vote per person per idea; automated or manipulated voting may be removed. Don't submit anything unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or abusive. We may edit for formatting, decline, remove, or reclassify any submission, and may suspend access for misuse.

6. Shipped apps

Apps we build are maintained at our discretion. An app that stays below a minimum revenue threshold may be retired or open-sourced, on the terms set out in the selection agreement for that app.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this page, with the date above. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia. Questions: hello@halfanidea.com.
